I first saw Orlando Higginbottom aka Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs at The Great Escape in 2010. It was a late night in Digital whilst waiting for some long forgotten blog darlings. What started as a chance encounter ended up being one of my Great Escape highlights that year. Within two tracks the whole place was bouncing.
Since then I’ve seen TEED a further 3 times, most recently at Camp Bestival in July. Each time the show has got a bit bigger, a bit more spectacular and the tunes, such as Household Goods, more honed and sculpted for maximum impact. Orlando also seems to have an implicit understanding of the classic Chicago house sound which he twists in new and exciting ways for a modern audience. To this he adds some slick vocals which (unusually for an electronic act) he sings live himself.
Throw into the mix a fantastic array of dinosaur costumes, a big light show, glitter guns and a pair of robotic dinosaur dancers and you have all the elements required for a massive Friday night rave up.
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is an act ready for lift off, he will be playing big venues before long, do not miss.
