Sailor Jerry presents:

A One Inch Badge presentation.

TOY is a London based five-piece formed in 2010, rising from the ashes of Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong. It is made of Tom Dougall (Vox/Guitars), Dominic O’Dair (Guitars), Maxim Barron (Bass/Vox), Alejandra Diez (Synthesizers/Modulation) and Charlie Salvidge (Drums/Vox). TOY’s musical influences incorporate a wide range of genres including punk, early electronic music, psychedelia, post punk, krautrock, kosmische, post rock, musique concrete and folk to name a few. With the majority of 2010 spent writing, TOY played their first show at the Cave Club in Islington. Since then the band have played a string of live performances including Field Day and 1234 festivals and have supported bands such as The Horrors and The Pretty Things. Their first released single was ‘Left Myself Behind’.

TRAAMS formed in summer 2011 in the most unsuspectingly quaint surroundings of Chichester, West Sussex. They wrote one huge thunderous song during their first rehearsal that made spires quiver and cobbles wobble, and so Stu, Adam and Leigh decided to do this again every week. It seemed like a more productive pastime than how they first met, at the club night frontman Stu used to run, in what must have been the most exciting place in their hometown at that moment. From those darkened corners sprung forth the noisey, joyous krautrock squall that is TRAAMS.

I come from a punk aesthetic and I have a very short attention span, so my songs come out short. It’s probably a good thing; it means people can listen without dedicating ages to it. The process is quick because my writing process happens at the same time as the recording. I come up with ideas, record them and then they evolve into full songs. Usually this takes a day per song; I don’t like spending a long time on things.

One Inch Badge

Founded by Alex Murray, One Inch Badge (or OIB it’s also known) is an independently minded music collective based in Brighton. Disheartened by the lack of support the true Brighton scene was receiving at the time, OIB Records launched as a label that focused on the artist and did justice to the innovation and creativity of the underground.

While One Inch Badge Records has expanded beyond its original parameters, releasing records for acclaimed international artists as well as less established acts, they remain dedicated to supporting the local scene that built and inspired them. This is particularly evident in the April 2011 released 18 track compilation ‘Sea Monsters’ which is a comprehensive 18 track compilation of the most crucial bands out of Brighton right now.

The One Inch Badge collective are also active and prominent local promoters on the Brighton scene, recently promoting Brighton shows for MF DOOM; Wire; Venetian Snares; Sage Francis; Nina Nastasia; Why?; KRS-One; 65daysofstatic; Health; Wolf Parade; Vashti Bunyan; Pains of Being Pure at Heart; Liars; and many more.
