In a DIY world where anyone with a laptop and a cracked copy of Logic can start making beats, it’s increasingly difficult as a producer to stand out as being unique. One such artist who manages to destroy that sentiment entirely is the experimental Essex bred Lapalux, making his way to the Green Door Store on the 14th of March.
At only 25 years old his IDM/hip hop high-breed has already made a name for himself globally. Rumour has it that head Brainfeeder honcho Flying Lotus hand picked him, and remains to this day the only British signing on the Cali’ based record label. His ability to shuffle textures with melodies so delicately is what gives his music such presence and personality, all wrapped in his signature swinging, glitch laden beats. Last years EP When You’re Gone has repeatedly been annoying my neighbors of late, with the track Gutter Glitter being particularly worth meriting a mention.
A début full length release on Brainfeeder entitled Nostalchic is due to be released on March 25th and has been described by critics as his most focused project to date. If it remains as impressive as new track Guuurl throughout then I most certainly have something to look forward to next month.
